#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving celebrated on the Tuesday following the well-known shopping days of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Celebrate with us this year by supporting our annual Christmas Campaign.
For years, people have given above and beyond their normal gifts towards #GivingTuesday. In a year that was filled with ups and downs, we look forward to this special tradition and to the ways our giving will impact lives throughout our community and around the globe. So let’s give our Christmas gifts of finances and time generously, as we create more opportunities for people to know how much they matter to God and to us!
WHERE YOUR GENEROSITY WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE:
FOOD HAMPER PACKING: It’s our annual Food Hamper program! We hope to feed over 1,000 families throughout Guelph and Wellington County. Be part of the action on December 20 & 21 at Guelph Citadel. Contact Carla at 519-836-9360, cholmes@guelphsa.ca, or register online to sign up for a shift.
CHRISTMAS KETTLES: This annual fundraiser in support of our Community & Family Services ministry is in full swing! Did you know that in 2021 we have a total of 1,606 kettle shifts to be filled? Our biggest volunteer force is you. And without your support as kettle volunteers we risk losing programs and services that support some of the most vulnerable people in our community. Sign up today and sign up often for your shifts and help us help others. Options for signing up for kettle shifts include online, by phone at 226-979-5471, or by emailing kettles@guelphsa.ca.
KIDS & STUDENTS: The next generation is rising and we intend to train, equip and support them. Did you know that your church will be starting two new initiatives in 2021 to support youth and students through mentoring and wellness programs? You can donate directly to our youth & children’s ministries in your weekly tithes, or, better yet, make a special donation to the LEAD mentoring program, the Sports, Board Games & Mental Health program for university-age students, Messy Church, or volunteer your time to support one of our many other youth programs. For more info on how you can support our kids and student programs, contact Ryan at youth@guelphsa.ca or 519-836-9360
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT: Did you know we own and operate a community service centre at 210 Victoria Road South? Through our Community & Family Services (CFS) we offer Jesus’ love in tangible forms, providing food, shelter, support, care, referrals and summer camps to many. We also work in partnership with other community agencies to extend our reach. Consider donating directly to our CFS ministries, volunteering your time in our food or clothes pantry, or collecting donations as a volunteer driver. Check out the volunteer opportunities and register here, or contact our CFS Program Coordinator at 519-836-9824 or familyservices@guelphsa.ca.
BRIGHTER FUTURES: Through Brighter Futures child sponsorship, you can provide financial support to Salvation Army programs that enable impoverished and vulnerable children in developing countries to receive food, clothing, shelter, education, medical needs and spiritual and loving care. Visit Brighter Futures for more information on how you can support this amazing initiative.
BC FLOOD RELIEF: The Salvation Army is currently on the ground in six of the hardest-hit communities feeding and hydrating first responders and evacuees, while also providing shelter, blankets, jackets and much-needed spiritual care. And we need your help. Please donate today and your donation will go directly towards helping these communities today and into the aftermath of these floods.
